Every winter, my grandmother makes her famous lentil soup. Last Friday, I visited her because I wanted to learn the recipe. First, we washed the lentils and cut two large onions. Grandmother heated some oil in a big pot on the stove. We added the onions and cooked them until they were soft. Then we put in the lentils, water, salt, and cumin. The kitchen smelled wonderful, and my stomach started to make noises. We waited for forty minutes and stirred the soup sometimes. Finally, grandmother added a little lemon juice at the end. "That is my secret," she said with a big smile. We ate the soup with warm bread, and it was delicious. Next winter, I am going to make this soup for my whole family.
