First Day at the Bookshop

Last Monday was my first day at a small bookshop. I was nervous, so I arrived thirty minutes early. My boss, Mr. Karim, showed me the shop and the storeroom. He taught me slowly how to use the cash register. My first customer wanted a book about cooking for her daughter. I found the book quickly, and she thanked me warmly. At lunchtime, I ate my sandwich with my new colleague, Nadia. She told me funny stories about difficult customers and heavy boxes. In the afternoon, I put new books on the shelves. One customer asked a hard question, but Nadia helped me answer it. At six o'clock, Mr. Karim said, "You did a great job today." I went home tired but happy because I love this job.
